Wed. Jan. 1st
Partly cloudy, snowed very little in early eve. Estelle Smith called in A.M. also the Fletchers. Hugh Johnson and Phyllis came over to dinner. Dick Purinton and family came in P.M. to play then Bruce and Gerry. Phyllis came over in eve.
Thurs. Jan. 2nd
Rain came over night – freezing on everything, mostly fair. Jimmie and family left about 6.30 P.M. for Port Deposit, Md. (Bainbridge nuclear school) Bible study class met here in eve. (five came)
Fri. Jan. 3rd
Nice mild day. Jimmie called us in morn. that they arrived in Md. OK. Freda went down St. in A.M. I went to Bible study at Estelle + Marian Smith’s in A.M. Emerson and Hilda called in A.M. Everett, Freda and I went to town in eve.
Sat. Jan. 4th
Very mild - 46° - nice in A.M. – cloudy in P.M. – few snow flakes in eve. Chris Harlan helped Freda clean “Beauty Salon”. Bill and Sue came about 12.15 and took me to Stewart’s to help Winnie. She came home last Sun. from C.M.G. hospital after being operated on.

Nice day, cooler. Margaret, Dean and Deano came to dinner to celebrate her birthday. Ethel Gauin called in P.M. also Carmen Baulier in eve. Bowdoin College won their 5th game in contest (in N.Y.) on College Bowl.
Mon. Jan. 6th
Cloudy, sleety in eve. – very treacherous traveling. I baby-sat for Margaret in P.M. while she took her mother and father to Dr. Cox’s office in Auburn. Arlene Butcher spent most of P.M. with me. Bill and Sue called on their way to Topsham to take Grace Flaig to their house for a visit.

Good day. Nellie Pattie spent P.M. With us. Mary Morin came in eve. for over-night visit. Geraldine Webber called in eve. also Alice Smith.

Nice day. Jen Wheeler came about 7.30 A.M. June and Lila called for her in P.M. Mrs. McKay called in A.M. Margaret took Mary Morin up to Susie Small's and Alberta’s in A.M. Jennie Elcik called in P.M. Nancy Morin ____?____ and husband called in eve. to take Mary home to Bethel.

Cloudy, mild – started snowing in P.M. then rained. Harry, Sr., and Margaret took Winnie to C.M.G. hospital in A.M. I baby-sat at Margaret’s. Arlene Butcher called in P.M. also May Rideout. Winnie much better after Dr. Cox removed the “packing” he had forgotten to remove when she went home after operation. Dot examined her and found it.

Nice day - 18° - windy and cold. Harry, Sr. spent P.M. at Bill Clark’s. Lee Wright and Grace Card married.

Clear and cold - 8° above. Harry, Sr. went to church. Geraldine Webber and Margaret Schultz called in P.M. also Helen Phinney Dority and family.

Cloudy, started snowing in late P.M. Snow over most of U.S. – windy and cold. Everything in N.Y. nearly at a standstill. Cars and buses stalled all thru central states. Arlene B. called in A.M. Fire at Tanquay’s old stand in Greene across from Alice's end with old post office and store burned. William discovered it when the explosion woke him about 5.30 A.M.

Nice day. I went to Brunswick with Margaret and Deano in A.M. Pauline Ey called in P.M. also Bill, Sue and Myrt. Everett, Freda, Susie Small and Patty here to dinner.

Nice day. Rev. Brackly called in late P.M. Win- and I spent A.M. and eve. at Margaret’s.

Nice day, much warmer. Bill and Sue spent P.M. with us. I went down to Orr’s Is. in eve. with Eben, Jennie, Lola and Gary. Had hair set. Harry didn’t go to work. (asleep at Margaret’s)

Mostly cloudy, mild light squall in P.M. Mrs. McKay here to dinner. We baby-sat at Margaret’s in eve. Arlene over in P.M.

Beautiful mild sunny day. Anna Karkos came in P.M. Jen Wheeler, June, Lila and Marion called in late P.M. also Russell Sawyer and Anita.

Light rain in P.M. – very mild. - 40°+. Margaret took Harry, Sr. and Winnie to Dr. Cox’s in Auburn in P.M. I baby-sat at Margaret’s.

Light showers during day, dark 46°. Bill and Sue down in P.M. also Arlene Butcher.

Nice day, mild. Win- and I cleaned her closet. We went to Hazel Foster’s in P.M. (first time Win- has been out for a walk) since going to Hospital in Dec.

Nice mild day. Bill, Sue and Lola called in A.M. Win- and I spent the P.M. at Arlene B’s and Margaret’s Mrs. Brackley called on us at Margaret’s. Margaret Deano and Chris here for dinner. Harry, Jr., didn’t work.
Fri. Jan. 24
Nice spring day, snow nearly gone. Win- and I went up to “Wayfarer” restaurant with Arlene Butcher and Myrtle Small to dinner then called on Jennie Elick. In P.M. Harry, Sr. took us to Harvey McKay’s. Jen Wheeler came in eve. while Lila and Doris went down St. Leonard Skelton (Mosse’s boy) was killed in woods when a log rolled on him. Harry, Jr. sick at home.

Snowed all day. Harry, Jr. went out to work after being out sick several days. Dorothy Russell called in eve.

About 5-6 in. of snow during storm, clear – nice day - 10°. Everett and Freda called in A.M. Win- and I went over to Jennie Elcik’s in P.M.

Cloudy in morn. then fair and mild. Winnie had her hair done at “Shopping Center” in A.M. Margaret took Win- Deano and me to Auburn in P.M. to visit Nettie Allen. Harry, Sr. called us home when callers came, one from Auburn and one from P.E. Island. We went up to Cal’s in eve.

Mostly fair, cloudy in late P.M. Win- went to Ethel Gouin’s and Hazel Foster’s in P.M. Win- and I baby-sat for Marg- and Dean in eve. Louis Jack died in Bangor.

Very mild, snow and rain mixed most of the day. Charlie Wakeley died. Harry, Jr. went out.

Light Squall in A.M. then fair and heavy wind. Margaret and Deano here to dinner. Harry, Sr., Win- and I went for ride to Topsham and home by Augusta Rd. and Bowdoin Center.

Clear, cold, windy. Win- and I went over to Arlene’s in A.M. Margaret took us up to Harold Small's in P.M. (rest of family gone) We called at Mrs. Dalrymple’s. Everett and Freda called in late P.M. on way to Portland to take music lesson. (organ)

Nice day. I went down St. with Margaret in A.M. Harry, Sr. took Win- and me up to visit Lillian Guenther at “Daigle Home” in P.M. We walked home and called on Mrs. Stanley Bryant on No. 9 Rd. (in hospital with Win-) Arlene Butcher and Mrs. Ransone called on us in eve.

Mild – squally in A.M. Bill, Sue and Lola came down in P.M. Win- and I baby-sat in eve.

Partly cloudy, 40°. Margaret took Winnie to Turner to visit Rose Coskery in P.M. and shopping in Lewiston. Win- and I went to Arlene’s in eve. – to lunch – Mrs. Ransone and Alice Smith there.

About 6 in. of snow during night then rain, snowed lightly in P.M. Jennie Elcik walked over in P.M. then Win- walked home with her.

Wet snow and rain – clearing in eve. Bill and Sue came after me in P.M. to go to their house for visit.

Cloudy in P.M. Everett, Freda and Sandra came after me in morn. to go with Ruth Wilson for a while. (Bernard died very suddenly the week before this) Sandra gave me a “perm” then they took me to Ruth’s. Freda stayed a while and Susie Houghton called in P.M.

Light snow flurry in night. Everett left Freda with Ruth and me while he went to Brunswick.

Nice day. Louise Adams came in P.M. and stayed over night.

Snowed and blew hard all day (6in.) Louise took me down home in A.M. Everett took me back in P.M. We all went to church and Sandra to Sun. school. Louise went home in late P.M.

Nice day. Everett, Freda, Sandi, Phyllis Johnson and I went to Brunswick shopping then to Portland for Everett to take his music lesson (organ) The rest of us had our supper at restaurant. Ethel and Bernard Linscott called at Ruth’s.

Nice day. Bill Sylvester and Dave Johnson shingled on back of house in P.M. Everett and Freda called. Winnie and Harry called in P.M. Ruth went to town with Curriers in P.M. Ruth’s son-in-law came out for a long talk in P.M.

Beautiful day, cooler. Everett and Freda came up in morn. and collected Ruth’s garbage for the dump and took me home. We went to church (Mayota went) She went to Cundy’s Harbor in P.M. to see Jan Taylor. Freda called her home to see Gramp Small and Carrie. I went back to Ruth’s in P.M.

Partly cloudy – clearing off cooler in late P.M. Bill Sylvester and Dave J. finished shingling for Ruth. Everett and Freda brot me home to stay while Ruth went to her daughter’s in Portland when he went to take his organ lesson. Sandra went with them. Granville called in early eve. also Mrs. Lubee. To have her hair done. (wrong date)

Nice day. Everett and Freda took me to Dr. McFarland’s in P.M. at Regional hospital for blader trouble. They went to “Quarterly Conference” meeting in eve. at Bailey Is.

Partly cloudy. Freda had some of Club girls here cooking most of day. Pam Doughty here with them in P.M. Everett took Freda to Lenten service at Bailey Is. and went down after her. Mr. Beery from Union church was speaker.

Good day. I rode to Bath with Everett in morn. Freda had some more “Club” girls here. The Bible study group met here in eve. – 9 present and 4 of us.

Clear, windy and colder. Mr. Gresham form Mass. called on way to his cottage. Worst earthquake Alaska ever had, (hardest felt at Anchorage) over 100 killed.

Nice day. I went down home in A.M. They brot me back in early eve. when they went to “pictures” in Bath. Chester, Marian and David came to supper. Mayota came home. She and Sandi called on me in eve.

Very light snow in morn. mixed with rain. Mayota came after me to go home for the day. Everett, Freda, Sandra and Mayota went to Easter sunrise service and breakfast at church. Sandi, Mayota and I went to 11 o’clock service. Mayota went to Hugh Johnson’s in P.M. to take lily we bot in memory of Maria. She went back to Orono with Ernest Hillman about 5 P.M. Everett and Freda took me back to Ruth’s when they went out for supper, rain in eve.

Fair, heavy winds. Jimmie and family arrive from Maryland in early morn. Finished his course at Bainbridge Nuclear school (14 days leave) We all went to Bailey Is. in P.M. to tour the “Argo” house boat owned by Commander Gilliam (Brunswick Naval Base) for benefit of M.Y.F.’s trip to World’s Fair at New York. Everett took me back to Ruth’s when he went to play at Topsham Sportsmen’s Club for benefit of fire department. Gerald Adams took Ruth up to South Bowdoin cemetery in P.M. to pick out a lot. Louise Adams and grandson brot her home.

Nice day. Everett came after me in morn. and took me back to Ruth’s in eve. Sandra went to Sunday school. Everett, Freda and I went to church. Jim and family went to Freeport to see Gary Martin whose feet were frozen when he went mountain climbing on his Christmas “Leave”. (got lost) Gramp Small and Carrie came down in P.M. Leo and his family came in early eve. The family here all went to Litchfield (Granville’s) in P.M. Took five of Sandra’s Sunday school class to see how maple syrup is made. Douglas McArthur (General) died in Washington, D.C. (84 years old)

Mostly fair, rainy in eve. Jim and Sharon went rent hunting in Conn. Lola Jones came to see Ruth in P.M. and took me down home. Ruth and I went to shore in P.M. Everett took me back to Ruth’s in eve.

Mostly cloudy. Ruth went to town in P.M. with Curriers. Jimmie and Sharon got home in late eve. from Springfield, Mass. where they found a rent.

Showery in P.M. Jimmie took me down home for the day. Granville working with Everett. Shirley and little Delmar came down for the day. Jim, Sharon and Arleen went to Brunswick in P.M. Everett, Freda, Shirley and Delmar went to Bath in P.M.

Partly cloudy – windy. Wilford Jones called in A.M. Everett, Freda, Jim and Sharon called to leave mail while on their way out to dine.

Nice day. Ruth and I went over to Allyson’s in P.M. for walk. Everett, Jim, Richard and Sandi had twenty-four hour flu. Mayota came home in eve. from Orono with Ernest Hillman.

Nice day. I went home in A.M. when Everett, Freda and Mayota came home from Brunswick. Celebrated Arleen’s and Richard’s birthdays (one and 2 yrs old) Hugh came over for cake and ice cream. James and family went to town in P.M. (Bot second-hand TV) Everett and Freda went out to picnic supper in late P.M. Jim and Sharon took me back to Ruth’s.

Nice warm day. Everett took me home in morn. Freda sick with “Flu”. Girls took a lunch (After Sandra went to Sunday school) and went off with Ernest Hillman and Danny Smith. Mayota taken with “flu” in late P.M. Everett took me back to Ruth’s in eve.

Fair. Sharon taken with “flu” during night. I was home all day. Granville working with Everett. Sandra sick all day with “flu”. Everett took me back to Ruth’s in eve.

Rainy. Ruth went to town in early morn. with Florence Currier. To spend the day. Everett took me down home about 6.30 A.M.

Showery part of day. Jim and Sharon went to town in A.M. Everett took Arleen up in P.M. to meet her father and mother to take her to Navy Base for “booster” shot and one other.

Showery in A.M. then cleared away. Jim took me down home in morn. for the day. Granville working with Everett. Jim and Sharon went to town in P.M. for groceries, etc. Jim and Everett took me back to Ruth’s in eve. on way to “dump”. Bible study group met at Everett’s

Good day, light showers in eve. James and Family left about 8.30 A.M. for their new home in Springfield, Mass. (studying at Windsor Locks in Conn.) Lola Jones spent P.M. here.
Sat. Apr. 18
Nice day. I went down home in P.M. Winnie spent P.M. with us. While Harry, Sr. and Cal went to Mackeral cove to work on Cal’s boat. Ruth came down to have her hair done at 4 P.M. We stayed to supper and went back to Ruth’s when Everett went to dance to play.

Nice day. Everett and Freda took me down home in morn. to stay a week while Ruth was in Portland at Margaret’s to go to Medical Center for check-up Wilford Jones came down in morn. to take the tractor to his house to sell. Sandi went to Sunday school. Freda and I went to church. Leo and family came in morn. Everett and Freda went up to Gramp Small’s cottage to have coffee and desert with Leo’s family. They went over to Harpswell in eve. on errands.

Cloudy and cool. I worked down to church helping clean out the vestry for the carpenters to start renovating Tues. Granville helping Everett. Everett, Freda and I went to Brunswick at 5.15 A.M. to take Sandra and Judkins boy to go with a bus load from Orr’s and Bailey’s to New York World’s Fair. We had breakfast in town.

Mostly fair, cold wind. Granville worked with Everett. Everett, Freda and I went to Bath in A.M. Everett went out in eve.

Rainy most of day. Everett and Freda went away in P.M. Granville worked with Everett. I cleaned up Sandra’s house. Taken with severe pain in shoulder in late P.M.

Showery in morn. Everett and Freda went to Brunswick in A.M. to get Sandra (home from the World’s Fair in N.Y.) They went away in P.M. and had supper out. Estelle and Marian Smith came home from a couple days in Orono to W.S.C.S. meeting. Phyllis Johnson over in eve.

Cloudy, cool. Madelyn Harris called in P.M. Sandra and Phyllis J. went to “Square Deal” supper. Everett, Freda, Sandi and Phyllis went to Brunswick shopping in eve. Margaret Wilson Trevanian (Ruth’s daughter) had a baby boy (3rd child) Charlie Pooler’s wife buried at West Bowdoin. Jimmie and Sharon called up from Springfield, Mass.

Cloudy most of day. Granville working with Everett. Estelle called in A.M. Freda and Sandra rode to Brunswick with Granville in late P.M. and went to Portland by bus for week-end at hair dresser’s convention. I went to Stewart’s for the evening when Everett went to play at Masonic party.

Fair. Everett and I went to church service at Bailey Is. at 10.30 A.M. (Our church having basement renovated.) to hear Dr. Charles Parkin who preached here 40 years ago. Gramp Small and Carrie came down in P.M.

First warm sunny day this spring - 71° in Portland at 6 P.M. Granville worked with Everett. Everett and I went into Portland after supper to bring Freda and Sandra home.

Nice day. Granville worked with Everett. Freda and Mayota went to supper at “Square Deal” Everett and Sandi went to town to take their organ lessons in eve. Mayota went with them to visit a friend.

Nice day. Mayota and I walked to “Square Deal” in P.M. Rode back with “Bert”. I finished cleaning my room and living room in A.M. Everett played at dance.

Nice day. I went to church with Smith girls at Bailey Is. (Our church basement being repaired.) We all had picnic lunch at noon at Gramp Small’s cottage. Girls stayed up for afternoon. Everett, Freda and I came home. Ernest Hillman took Mayota back to Orono in eve.

Foggy morn then cleared away, light showers in P.M. Freda and I went to Mt. Dessert Is – and up Mt. Cadillac then to Bar Harbor to watch the “Blue Nose” come in from Nova Scotia and unload and load up to go back to N.S. Called at “Gils” for supper coming home. Found that the electricity had gone off in “deep freeze” so cooked up what we could use and gave the rest to neighbors. Everett and Freda went to “dump” in eve.

Nice, cool, windy. We went to Gray cemetery in P.M. Richard Purinton bot his mother’s place and moving the old part (Clara’s) across the road for Lila to live in.

Nice day. Jimmie and family came home. We went to town in A.M. and to Lewiston to bring Aunt Belle down for a visit. We went to Litchfield cemetery in eve. then up to Monmouth to Fisher’s.

Nice day. We went to cemeteries in A.M. and to the association meeting at church vestry in P.M. Pam and Lester Doughty and girls called in eve. Sandra was taken to Regional Hospital by ambulance. (John Huff took her)

Nice day, warmer. We left in early morn. Went to Gonic, N.H. with Emil and Verna King. Had dinner in Rochester then went to Purvis'. On way home called to see Edna Booker and her family in Springvale. Went to Bill Booker’s grave. Everett came after me in eve. We called at the hospital (Regional) to see Sandra. Mayota and Ernest Hillman called at hospital on way to Orono. The Harlan’s last Sunday in our church.

Sue McGowan took Donnie and Sharon and left Brian Brian, Jr. Florence Day passed away.

Cool and windy. Freda and Sandra went to town with some (?) friend to get their hair done in A.M. Stayed up for dinner lunch. Granville worked for Everett. Gramp Small and some friends called in P.M. Everett, Freda Sandra and I went to reception at Bailey Is. for Mr. + Mrs. Booth (new pastor) and his father and mother. Bishop Booth (Sr.) spoke to us on Kongo mission work then refreshment were served. Everett and Freda went away after bringing us home.

Beautiful day. Freda and Everett had a “Father’s Day” party for Gramp Small-Carrie, Leo and his family, Chester, Marian and David, Granville and family, Sandra, Mayota, Ernest and I went to church. After dinner we all went up to Chester’s cottage then came back here for supper. Ernest took Mayota back to Orono in P.M. also Sandra went along for a visit.

Nice day. Granville worked with Everett. He stayed down to go fishing in eve. Freda and Cliffie took their noon lunch and went up to Gramp Small’s cottage to bring the canoe down. Everett has a small boat he bot of Eben Carlson. Freda and Cliffie went to Cundy’s Harbor with Everett after lunch. Cliffie painted the back piazza floor in A.M. I took a walk down to Susie Houghton’s (on errand) in early eve.

Planes still hunting for Roy Murray and Robert Sampson both of Brunswick. Freda and Shirley (Granville’s wife) left at 8 A.M. for Springfield Mass. to visit Jim’s family. Granville and Brian both worked with Everett. Everett took Sandra to Dr.’s in town in P.M. Phyllis Johnson went along. Ernest Hillman brot us mackeral in eve.

Sandra started work again – first time since she went to hospital. Granville and Shirley went home after supper. Harry Stewart, Sr. taken to Parkview Hospital.

Win got word that Harry Sauson was operated on in Kingston Ontario. Bill and Sue came down in eve. also Susie Small, Patty and children.

Cloudy, dark day, showery in A.M. Everett and Freda went to Litchfield in early morn. for few hours. Mayota worked in Library in P.M. Ernest took the girls out to supper and to “Drive-In”. Catherine Bisciglia called me from Doris’ in eve.

Partly cloudy, cool. I went to church then went home with Ruth Wilson to dinner. (Ethel Linscott took us) The rest of the family went on a picnic. Mayota and Ernest came up to Ruth’s to take me home in P.M.

Mostly cloudy, cool. I went down to Winnie Reid's and to post office in A.M. Granville came to work and brot Cliff back for the week. Freda, Sandra, Mayota and Ernest’s mother went to Portland shopping in P.M.

Dark, showery day. Had my hair set in P.M. Everett and Freda went to town in P.M. I went with them to Brunswick with them in late P.M. Gave them supper at Claire’s then they took me to Doris’ for visit. Catherine, Stephie, Carol and Lori there on yearly visit. Showery in eve.

Few sprinkles. Catherine, Doris and I went berrying in P.M. on Penny Road. Called at Mr. Morrison’s to see Aunt Edna Webster. Played “Rook” in eve.

Showery. George Pruell died in Lewiston hospital. Catherine, Doris (with Stevie, Carol, Joyce, Lori, Kathy and Sylvia) took me to Bill’s and Sue’s for week-end after calling at Stewart’s, June Wheeler’s and Vera’s in eve. to celebrate Tracy’s birthday, (4)

Beautiful day. We went to West Bowdoin “Old Home” Sunday. Vera and Emil King came down in P.M. to go blackberrying. We took Aunt Belle home in eve. then went over to Wm.’s and Evelyn’s (Myrt went with us.)

Nice A.M. – showery in P.M. Freda, Cliff and I went shopping in town. Mayota went to Regional Medical Center to see her Dr. Everett, Freda, Cliff and Sandra went down St. to dinner.

Nice day. Everett and Freda went to Lewiston in A.M. Mayota went to Brunswick in P.M. Everett and Freda went to town in early eve. Ernest and the folk here made plans for the wedding after having cake and ice cream to celebrate Sandi’s birthday.

Nice day. Everett, Freda and Clif went down below Bath where Everett was on a job of plumbing. Ernest and the girls went out in the evening to Bowdoin Theater – “My Fair Lady”. Heard that Gracie Allen (“Gracie + Geo. Burns”) passed away during night with a heart attack. Joe Couture’s old home in Bowdoin burned, owned by a Baker family.

Mostly cloudy. Everett and Freda went away in P.M. (took Cliff home for good) They stayed out to supper. Chester, Marian and a friend called in eve.

Foggy in morn. and at night, hot, above 80°. Everett, Freda and I left for (my birthday postponed) ride to Pemaquid, S. Bristol, Christmas Cove then to West. Gardiner to get Cliffie to go with us to “Gil’s” at Bath restaurant to Ernest Hillman’s 21st birthday party – the Hillman family, Mildred (Gram), Gram + Gramp Hersey and daughter and Susan, Everett, Freda, Sandra, Mayota and me. Winnie and the Judson’s from P.E.I. (Helen + Bruce) and (Aunt) Leva called while we were away.

Mostly foggy, light showers in P.M. Everett and Freda went to town shopping in A.M. Mayota in bed part of day. Had a letter from Clara Stevens in Portland hospital.

Beautiful day. the W.S.C.S. met here in A.M. with 16 present. (first meeting of the season) Freda went calling in P.M. Mary Bangs and children down in P.M. Mayota in bed most of day.
Wed. Sept. 2nd
Nice day. We moved Mayota from front bedroom downstairs to the one under the stairs. Mayota took Sandra to Bath in P.M. to take driver’s test. Freda went out with Everett in P.M. Gramp Small and Carrie came down to supper.
Thurs. Sept. 3rd
Beautiful day. Everett was away working all day. I cleaned the front bedroom down stairs Freda went out with Mrs. Porter in P.M. Sandra and Mayota went to town for supper.

Showery in P.M. Everett worked away. Girls very busy in “Beauty Shop”. Freda had new electric stove put in kitchen in P.M. Larry Hall and Glen Allen came down in eve. Larry on “leave” from Navy for 30 days. Everett and Freda went out in eve.

Cleared away about noon. Ernest worked with Everett in A.M. Sandra went up to Gramp Small’s camp after dinner intending to spend the wk-end but found it occupied. Everett and Freda went after groceries in eve. Freda went to Mrs. Porter’s in P.M.
Sun. Sept. 6th
Beautiful day. Everett, Freda, Sandi, Mayota and Ernest left in morn. to go to Mr. Herrick’s cottage at Dexter Pond. The young folks stayed over night.

Nice day. Sandra, Mayota and Ernest came home from Mr. Herrick’s cottage in eve.

Everett and Freda went to Lewiston in A.M. Mayota took me to town in A.M. and took me to Medical Center in Brunswick in P.M. to see Dr. McFarland on “urine” trouble then we went shopping. Funeral services at Baptist church at Lisbon Falls for Dick Tarr. Funeral services at Lewiston for Irving Darling.

Cloudy. Freda went with Mrs. Porter to 4H club supper and eve. meeting. Everett took me to Sue’s in eve. Bill, Sue and I went to Falls in eve. for groceries.

Warm, showery in P.M. We went to Litchfield Fair – took Sadie Garland. Everett and Freda came to “Fair” in eve.

Nice day. we went to “Fair” again. Stayed to Fireworks at 10.15 P.M.

Nice day, first frost in some low places. We went to church in A.M. then to Vera’s to dinner then up to Wales to see Charlie and Nellie Goding’s home they bot about two weeks ago (Ray Roberts’ place) Their relatives were giving them a housewarming. We went from there up to Fisher’s and Stinson’s cottages. Bill was called down to Bobby’s house (Emery Whitney) about 11 P.M. Mayota and Ernest began moving into their first home this wk-end.

Nice day. Sandra and Mayota went to town in A.M. Everett, Freda, Sharon and children arrived from Springfield about 11.30 A.M. Everett, Freda and Sandra went out in eve. Sharon took children over to Grandpa Hugh's in eve.

Showery in A.M. Several callers during the day bringing wedding presents to Ernest and Mayota. Ernest, Sr., Martha, Dianne and Ronny York were here in eve.

Nice day. Everett, Freda and I went to town in P.M. and had supper after shopping Rev. Harry Bowman and his wife came down in P.M. and stayed over night for the wedding rehearsal at our church for Mayota and Ernest Hillman’s wedding. House full til late in eve. Alfred Darrow came down in P.M. Slept over in Mayota’s and Ernest’s house.

Beautiful day. House full all day. Mayota and Ernest married at 3 P.M. and went away for couple of days. The Bowmans went home in eve. Leo’s family and Chester’s family (except Ronnie) and the Bowmans here to oyster supper also Alfred Darrow.

Very nice day. Everett, Freda, Sandra, Jim’s family and Alfred went on picnic. I went to church. Mr. Medzerentz’ first service here. Phil + Gertrude Rowe and two girls down in late P.M. Alfred Darrow went home on bus in late P.M.

Light showers in P.M., cooler. Ernest, Mayota and Sandi brot ice cream in to celebrate Everett’s birthday. Jim and Sharon moved to Windsor Locks, Conn. near his work.

Beautiful day – cleared off in early morn. Everett and Ernest went bird (duck) hunting in early morn. and all day. Freda laid up with headache.

Fair and very windy. Everett, Freda, Sandi and I went to church at 9.30 A.M. Rev. Plummer from Brunswick church served communion (World Communion Sunday) They all went away after dinner. Terrible loss of life in some southern states from tornados and hurricane Hilda. Carrie Ricker Small in hospital.

Partly cloudy. Mayota came in A.M. to do her washing and stayed for dinner. Everett and Freda went away in late P.M. for the evening and supper. Wm. Sylvester, Sr. passed away. (92 yrs).

Nice day, cool. Freda and I went to W.S.C.S. meeting with Estelle and Marian Smith at Lizzie Johnson’s in A.M. Granville and Julian Parker didn’t work for Everett today.

Beautiful, clear, mild day. Sandra and Mayota came up in A.M. and took me to Brunswick shopping and I took them to dinner at “Claire’s”. Evelyn took Mary and Susie over to Shirley’s for dinner. Callers.

Squally in morn. then cleared away windy and much colder. Susie here to dinner. Callers. Everett and Freda took me home for wk-end in eve. after shopping in Brunswick.

Fair. Everett and Freda went to town in P.M. Mayota called to have hair set in A.M. Ernest called in P.M. while waiting for Mayota to finish work at library. (taking Susie Houghton’s place while she and Clyde are in the west visiting relatives)

Snowed very lightly most of day. Everett, Freda, Sandra and I went to church. Leo and family down in P.M. (except Timmy who is in the hospital with infection of some kind) Lewis Young came down in late P.M. to take me back to Mary’s. Mae and Bud Everard had lunch with us. Callers in eve.
